Easy Macaroni and Cheese Pizza Recipe
Mac and Cheese Pizza is a creation that I came up while preparing dinner for my friends! I ended up having people over this past weekend and needed a quick homemade side dish to go with the dinner. I haven’t made homemade Mac and Cheese before so I ended up finding a very basic recipe and changed it up a bit by adding more unhealthy ingredients such as pepperoni and a third type of cheese. Enjoy this easy mac and cheese recipe that has a pepperoni pizza twist to it. Serves four.
source: my own creation
- 8 oz Elbow Macaroni (half a box)
- 3 cups milk
- 2 c Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1 c Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 1/2 c Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1 bag of Sliced Pepperoni
- 1/4 c Butter
- 2 1/2 tbsp Flour
- Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil to cook your elbow macaroni. Cook according to the directions on the box and drain when fully cooked.
- While your elbow macaroni is boiling you can start to create the sauce. In a large saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the flour to make a roux. Slowly add the milk and stir constantly. Next, add your three cheeses, cheddar, mozzarella and parmesan, together and cook on low until everything is melted together and the sauce turns a tad bit thick.
- Once your drain your elbow macaroni, place half of the macaroni into a large casserole dish. Next, place a layer of pepperoni on top, I like to use turkey pepperoni since it is 70% less fat and tastes practically the same. After you have a layer of pepperoni down pour the rest of the macaroni on top.
- Finish the casserole by pouring your cheese sauce over top of the macaroni and pepperoni. Warning, it will look like there is to much sauce but after baking, the sauce will be absorbed into the macaroni.
Cook the casserole for about 30 to 35 minutes and enjoy with a side of spaghetti sauce or any other topping.
